As a relatively small, locally owned and operated carrier, DayStarr Communications is proud to provide personal customer service from a highly trained team of friendly professionals. When you give us a call, you’ll always be greeted by an actual person—an advantage you simply won’t enjoy with a national carrier. To top it off, most of our employees have strong roots in the local area. In other words, our staff members aren’t just DayStarr professionals; they are also your neighbors.
Collin Rose, President
Collin co-founded Michigan Online Group in 2001 and founded DayStarr Communications in 2002. Born and raised in the Mid-Michigan area, he graduated from Baker College of Owosso with an Associate Degree in Applied Science Computer Systems and Internetworking Technology. As the President of DayStarr, Collin spends most of his time strategizing about the future of the company and experimenting with new technology. Every now and again he can be found out in the field assisting with a cable cut, or assisting the lline crew with traffic control. He also hires and manages the DayStarr staff. Outside of work, Collin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also works as a volunteer firefighter for Owosso Township Fire Department, an EMT at Corunna Area Ambulance and a Hazmat technician at Shiawassee Special Response Team.
Steve Starr, Director of Network Operations
Steve manages the day to day activities of DayStarr’s technical staff and also serves as the company’s resident programmer and network engineer. Originally born in California, he was raised in Owosso, Michigan. Steve graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Computer Information Systems. He joined DayStarr Communications in 2005. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, playing golf, riding his bike and snowboarding.
Mark Hudson, Sales
Mark has lived in mid-Michigan for most of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University and has worked at DayStarr Communications since 2005.
Thomas Wendling, Network Provisioning Engineer
Thomas handles most of the technical support, networking, and computer needs for DayStarr customers; as well as provisioning their service. Raised in New Lothrop, Michigan, Thomas has lived in mid-Michigan for most of his life. Currently enrolled at Northwood University, he has earned an AAS from Bay College in Computer Systems Technology as well as multiple industry certifications. He joined DayStarr Communications in 2010. Thomas spends his free time learning new technology, beta testing electronics for companies, and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
Jennifer Wise, Director of Finance
Jennifer handles the billing, AIR, AIP, accounting functions, reporting and other financial responsibilities for DayStarr Communications. From Morrice, she has lived in Michigan nearly all of her life. Jennifer graduated from Michigan State University in 1992 and also holds a Certified Public Accountant’s license. She joined DayStarr Communications in 2008. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys volunteering for the City Rescue Mission of Lansing.
James Thompson, Senior Field Technician
James handles service installs, wiring, and many other technical responsibilities. He also interacts frequently with DayStarr customers to ensure they are fully satisfied with our services. Born and raised in Ithaca, Michigan, James moved to Owosso after he graduated from high school. He studied computer science at Baker College of Owosso and hopes to return to school and complete his degree in the near future. James spent several years setting up and programming machines for another company before he started working with DayStarr Communications in 2007. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, camping, fishing, grilling and spending time with his family and friends.
Ted Schulz, Senior Outside Plant Engineer and Fiber Optic Splicer
Born in Fenmore, Ted has lived in mid-Michigan for 60 years. He attended Lansing Community College and worked for Verizon for 36 years before joining DayStarr Communications in 2006. Outside of work, Ted enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Casey Rose, Field Technician and Fiber Optic Splicer
One of Collin's many family members to have worked at DayStarr over the years, his brother Casey joined the DayStarr Communications staff in 2011. He is employed as a field tech and recently became certified in fiber optic splicing. He has lived in Michigan his entire life.
Levi Schrepfer, Lead Outside Plant Technician
Born in Calispell, MT; Levi has lived in Michigan since 2005. He has been working in construction trades for over 8 years. Levi is responsible for overhead and underground cable build projects and bringing service to the premise. In his free time, he enjoys: snowboarding, skiing, rock climbing, playing video games, and spending time with his wife.
Brandy Mortimore, Receptionist
Relatively new to DayStarr Communications, Brandy has lived in Shiawassee County her whole life. She joined Daystarr in late 2011 filling the receptionist role. Outside of work, Brandy enjoys playing and coaching sports, hunting, and participating in horse shows.
